Neill Horton

Neill Horton BVSc MRCVS Partner

Neill qualified from Liverpool University in 1998. He moved back to Surrey and joined Brookmead Veterinary Surgery in June 2002. Then he became a partner in 2007. Neill likes to see a wide variety of pets and goes to great lengths to ensure they get the best treatment he can give. He would like to have a Scottish Terrier - but has been saying that ever since he arrived! In his spare time, Neill pursues his lifelong interest in model railways. He also enjoys photography and vegetable gardening.
Neil Coode

Neil Coode BVSc MRCVS VetMFHom Partner

Neil qualified from Bristol Veterinary College in 1987. He joined Brookmead Veterinary Surgery in 1989 and has built a following of loyal clients with their pets over the 25 years he has been here. Neil qualified as a Homeopathic Faculty Member in 1998, and people now also refer to him for this and other alternative treatments. Neil is married to Kath and they have three children – Joe, Callum and Hamish. He enjoys playing and listening to music and is an active member of his local Baptist Church.

Hazel Taylor 
Veterinary Nurse - Part Time

Hazel qualified in 1993 and after working in general practice moved to a large wildlife hospital before joining us here at Brookmead Veterinary Surgery. Her knowledge of wildlife care has proved invaluable to us when wildlife has been brought into the surgery.
In August 2016, after three years training Hazel qualified as a Companion Animal Tellington T-Touch practitioner. For more information on Ttouch please go to
Hazel enjoys wildlife photography and has worked as a volunteer at several animal charities. She has two dogs, a Lurcher and a Border Collie who keep her very busy.

Gina Whitehead Animal Care Assistant

Gina joined the Brookmead team fifteen years ago after completing a work experience placement with us. She is our animal nursing assistant, who's duties include caring for your pets and knowing where everything is! 
Gina has a very handsom cat called Billy, who is a bluepoint Siamese. 
Gina is motherly in nature, and frequently likes to look after her nephew and niece. In her spare time she likes to swim and spend time with her newly wed husband Dan. Gina became Mrs Whitehead in September 2017.
Claire Anderson

Claire Anderson Student Nurse

Claire is a jolly Scotts lass who joined us in 2015 with just one lovely dog Rascal, but soon took charge of another dog Mara when she was brought into the practice as a stray. Claire has been running the very successful Puppy Parties for us.

Kerry-Anne Hawkins Head Nurse

Kerry-Anne is our full time, registered veterinary nurse who qualified in 2008, and joined the Brookmead team in December 2015. She has been head nurse at various small animal practices, and has a wealth of experience in management and nursing. She has a keen interest in anaesthesia and medicine and has many fur babies of her own, including two small terriers and two cats.
She is a keen fitness enthusiast who spends the majority of her spare time at the gym or completing her certificate in human nutrition.

Claire Mariner 
Veterinary Nurse - Part Time

Claire joined us in 2016 and works here 4 days a week. Having qualified in 1999 she has worked in various first opinion practices in Surrey and Sussex and has accumulated an impressive wealth of knowledge over the years. 
She is a self-confessed crazy cat lady at heart and has two of her own called Gus and Lily who she generously shares with her husband and children. 
In her spare time she enjoys singing in a local choir and always looks forward to touring Europe with them every summer.

Carol Morley

Carol Morley Office Manager

Carol joined Brookmead Veterinary Surgery in 2010 as the Office Manager. She has four dogs, two Labs, a Terrier and a Spaniel, and enjoys taking them for long walks in the beautiful countryside. She also looks after 12 ferrets! Carol says ‘I work mainly in the back office but like to take every opportunity to meet the lovely pets that come in to see us’.

Delaine Shearman Admin and Receptionist

Delaine joined us in November 2012 to work in the office and cover reception when required. Living on a small farm with dogs, chickens, ducks, geese, sheep and cattle, she is very familiar with the joys and worries of keeping them all fit and healthy!

Emma Church Part-Time Receptionist

Emma joined us in October 2011 after taking a break from Veterinary Reception/Nursing to bring up her son. Though she has always had Cocker Spaniels, she now has an Irish Setter called Molly as well as her Tortie Cat – Lilly. Emma and Molly enjoy dog training and long walks in the countryside. Emma works here on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

Justine Pelling Part-Time Receptionist

Justine joined the Brookmead team in May 2015 after deciding to have a career change. She was new to the veterinary world, but picked things up very quickly - she was a natural! 
Justine works Wednesday-Saturday on reception, as well as additional hours helping out with administrative work in the office. In October 2017 Justine completed a part-time course and qualified as an Animal Nursing Assistant. Justine has a wonderful Golden Retriever called Harry, and a mischievous Burmese cat called Charlie. 
In her spare time Justine likes to take Harry for long walks, and play touch rugby.

Liz Rapley Part-time Receptionist

Liz joined the Brookmead team in the Spring of 2015. She works part-time in the office, and at reception. Liz has a number of years experience working in the veterinary world and before that in Secretarial work. 
Liz lives in Rudgwick with her husband Graham and daughter Emily Jane. Two lively Springer Spaniels and two guinea pigs complete the household. Hobbies don't happen often but when there is some down time they are dressmaking, gardening and singing in a local choir.
